The Wines of ROAR

ROAR Wines currently makes fifteen wines, which are available for purchase during three annual releases. We craft wines from our estate vineyards, guiding them from grafting to the bottle. Each wine is singular in its expression, reflecting its original personality from the terroir.

Winemaking. ROAR Wines represents a pure and expressive style that focuses on our distinctive vineyard sites. In our new winery, meticiulously designed for own estates and style, our experienced winemaking team experiments and innovates to coax the best attributes of each vintage. Our persistent attention to detail throughout the year results in consistent, yet exciting, wines that capture our ethos.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir

We craft six Pinot Noirs, and each offers a distinctive drinking experience. Our Pinots are crafted with minimal intervention and gentle handling to allow our growing sites to fully express themselves. They showcase the characteristics we find compelling to drink from the Santa Lucia Highland’s unique terroir, with lively fruit and alluring complexity. These bottles can be enjoyed right upon release, and will cellar for many years. Explore the various personalities of our wines below.

Chardonnay

Chardonnay

ROAR’s Chardonnays possess a panache that defies all the typical style categories of the varietal. The Santa Lucia Highlands affords the clusters a long and steady maturation on the vine. They age in oak for up to 15 months before being bottled, unfined and unfiltered, preserving their full flavor. This leads to luscious, viscous Chardonnays that retain their citrusy zip. Packed with florals and orchard fruits, the best way to understand them is to drink them.

Rhônes

Rhônes

When Gary Franscioni returned from France’s Rhône Valley in 2003, he was convinced their native grape varieties would thrive in his Santa Lucia Highlands vineyards. Today, ROAR's Rhône-style wines hail from extremely small lots, farmed with care and precision. Whole-cluster fermentation endows structure and tannin to the Syrahs, while the Grenache receives Pinot-like treatment for an elegant countenance. Our Viognier is a unique white that surprises and delights. Each is a beloved and rewarding addition to the ROAR portfolio.
