Contemplative and pensive, our sole bottling from outside of the Santa Lucia Highlands is dark, with dense berry compote. Pomegranate mingles with cloves and savory meaty tones. The vineyard is farmed and managed by the Hall family.

Clos Pepe Vineyard is the only wine we craft from outside the Santa Lucia Highlands. Originally farmed by Stephen and Cathy Pepe, this iconic Sta. Rita Hills site is celebrated for its commitment to natural winegrowing and its pioneering role in the Santa Barbara region’s rise to prominence. Our winemaker, Scott Shapley, first worked with Clos Pepe in the early 2000s during his tenure at Roessler Cellars. Returning to the vineyard at ROAR in 2020 has been a full-circle moment for him. Like our Santa Lucia Highlands wines, this bottling is shaped by windswept conditions and delivers powerful, expressive flavors, all carried on a graceful, silky palate.
