Reviews & Press : Rosella's Vineyard Syrah, 2005 & earlier
2005 Rosella's Vineyard Syrah
92 points -
The inky/blue/black-tinged 2005 Syrah Rosella’s Vineyard offers up scents of charcoal, acacia flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and burning embers. This full-bodied, powerful, concentrated effort reveals more structure than the Santa Lucia bottling as well as a distinct minerality/earthiness. It should drink well for 6-8 years.
Rosella's Vineyard named Vineyard of the Year!
"A few months ago, in our coverage of Pinot Noir, the best wines all came from Rosella’s Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The property belongs to Gary Franscioni (who is also a partner with Gary Pisoni in Garys’ Vineyard)."
2003 Rosella's Syrah
92 Points - "Huge and handsome, this syrah shows some restraint, more delicate in its expression of rose and earthy spice than most SLH pinot noirs. The fine tannin adds a bitterness like chocolate, darkending the red rose fruit. Serve it with seared duck breast and wild mushroom polenta."
2003 Rosella's Vineyard Syrah (Released February 2006)
91 points - Drink 2005-2011 - A fine effort from Roar, the 2003 Syrah Rosella's Vineyard exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with sweet aromas of creosote, blackberries, cherries, camphor, and road tar. Dense with medium to full body, supple tannin, decent acidity, and impressive purity, texture, and length, it should be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years.
